This week in Anchorage, Alaska is all about the dogs. Tomorrow is the ceremonial start for the 1,100-mile Iditarod sled dog race and once again our crew will be there on assignment. For many Anchorage-based photographers, the ever popular race marks the beginning of the ‘busy season’ as the community starts to come out of its winter slumber. This will be our fifth year straight shooting the Iditarod for clients such as Frommer’s, AT&T, Conde’ Nast and the Alaska Travel Industry Association. Our work usually focuses on the event of the Iditarod start, something that thousands travel from around the world to see. And it’s amazing what they do to downtown Anchorage; truck in tons of snow, bury Fourth Avenue and early tomorrow morning (Sat March 5) there’ll be a thousand sled dogs eager to get on the trail.
