The final result of a year-long assignment for Frommer’s Travel Guides hit the shelves in book stores this spring. We began two book projects for this client in 2009; Frommer’s Alaska 2010 and the Alaska Day by Day guides. What ensued was a 10-month mega-tour of AK that had us photographing 275 activities, tours, and locations. Much of the work was shot around our home town of Anchorage and Southcentral region, though we also spent weeks on the road. On down the Alaska Highway to Haines and Skagway. Up north to Denali National Park and Fairbanks. Summer, Fall and even in the middle of winter.
Frommer’s is taking a new approach with its Day by Day books. They include more imagery than the standard guides as well as a layout designed to better showcase photography with two page spreads. We’re very pleased with how our work is displayed in the book. Even surprised at some photographs that made the final cut (atypical guide book pics). From the very first phone call photo editor Cherie Cincilla let us know that she wanted to push the style of travel photography you usually see in a guide book.
Alaska Day by Day includes over a hundred of our images. Below are a few of our favorites from that project, for a variety of reasons. Have one you like best? Let us know. Your comments are always appreciated.
