This spring we were stoked to be invited to sign on as part of Mountain Hardwear’s ambassador team. Our duties include getting their gear and apparel out in the mountains for photography and testing. Yeah, it’s a real rough gig. We decided to kick this off with a trek we’ve been wanting to do in our home range – Alaska’s Chugach Mountains. Solstice week proved to be incredibly fine this summer, so we packed up the gear and headed into our backyard. Literally: the starting point for our little traverse was five minutes from our home above Anchorage. A few days later we emerged in the little town of Girdwood, dirty and wide eyed from a crossing that almost didn’t happen. Mountain Hardwear will have a full post for their site in the coming weeks.
It’s comforting to know that after all these years in AK, we can still find a little adventure in the ‘Back 40′.
